"Design Will Save the World"

Right now in physics we are working on projects where we examine claims about climate change and whether or not we should believe them. I am looking at proposed Geo-engineering methods to stop climate change, in particular from an article "5 Crazy Ways to Stop Climate Change with Geo-engineering".
The first thing that caught my eye was that the slogan of the website, Inhabitat, was "Design Will Change the World".
 I though that this was a bold claim, and the ideas it presented brought me back to our first week of class and the venn diagrams about the relationship between humans, nature, and culture. The world presented in the slogan of Inhabitat suggests that technology is the most prevalent factor affecting the future of the world.
Geo-engineers typically work in mining, fracking, other hydraulics, and infrastructure relating to resources and their transportation.
The 5 methods proposed in this particular article are unrealistic, over the top, and drastic. They proposed ideas are
1) Dam the Mediterranean
2) Wrap Greenland in a Blanket
3) Make More Clouds
4) Flood Death Valley
5) Give the Earth a Solar Shield
In my opinion these methods fail to recognize the main purpose of preventing climate change, to decrease human impact on the earth. Instead, they exercise further global human dominance and alter the course of natural history. I understand the need for climate change symptom relief and reducing harm to human and other life, but why not focus on technologies that would decrease overall human impact? It seems to me like these technologies would just be enabling humanity to continue to live as it is now, and not provide incentive to decrease impact on our resources.
